FATE.
It fills us with a dread,
An awakening that rather should be laid to sleep.
Reminding us of the paths we take to death,
It is judgement to our souls indeed.
Fate, a constant reminder that we don't make our choices,
That our paths have been set by someone who controls destiny.
Why live when you'd eventually die?
Why succeed when you'd eventually fail?
Why take chances when you'd eventually be defeated?
Why not stay down when you won't be lifted?
Fate fills us with a gloom,
A misery that stops us from trying to bloom.
But knowledge is light, they say,
Knowing your faith helps you not to fail.
But shall you know something you can't change?
Shall you allow such knowledge to haunt you?
What will be will always be,
It's torment to try to change it.
But is our fate really set?
To the dictates of destiny, are we really helpless?
Or isn't our mindset controlled by what we see?
And isn't it the pain around us that has defined our choices?
Perharps we should look away from this suffering
And behold the truth in God's promise of greater things.
I choose to look on to things not seen,
To a fate not defined by circumstances.
I choose to believe in a force greater than myself,
For I've seen my thoughts, my abilities are limited.
I choose to take my fate, destiny and everything,
And lay it all down at His feet.
I know He can fill men with peace,
Peace greater than our abilities and beliefs,
And He can give us a choice at it,
Indeed we can define our destiny with Him.
Our fate is never set with Him,
What will be is what we allow to be.
I will trust Him to guide me,
To help me choose my destiny rightly,
For without Him, I'll always fail
And gloom will be the end of my fate.
Jesus, I leave my destiny in your hands,
For only You are perfect enough to make it right.
Only You are perfect enough to make it count.
