5 Tips Of Effective Communication

Image
Take it or leave it, communication is a central part of our daily activities as humans. In school, in church, at market, at home, everywhere, communication is one thing we all cannot do without.   Now, it is not enough to communicate, there's a need for communication to be effective. Effective communication, you will find, is always at the heart of every flourishing organization, family, and relationship.   You will easily find out, whether in your family or relationships, when communication is no longer flowing the way it should. Miscommunication leads to nothing other than misunderstanding, conflicts, bitterness, and at worst, the loss of relationships, or even opportunities. Relationships thrive off communication, so does every important thing life.   Whether you are a public speaker, writer, painter, or part of a project team, you want to be sure that your words are taken for what they mean, and not the other way round.   It is why you ha...

Dear Distinguished -- Obey The Golden Rule

Image
Dear Distinguished,    You know how we do it yeah? I tell you a story you can relate or cruise with, you read between the lines, get blessed and God is pleased with us. Sounds like fun?   I wanted to buy chebe powder from one of these fulani women few weeks ago. This woman is quite old, so I asked her the price first. Her reply made me exclaim 'omo'! She 'mal-heard' me and said I called her 'mumu'. Guy, I quickly cleared her o. Why will I call somebody's mother mumu? Something you can fight me for if you hear the gist outside.  I explained myself, she understood, and sold me the chebe balls at the price I was willing to pay. Wait, don't kill me. I know it's chebe powder but she sold balls for me and said I should go and grind it myself. Then she left. Peacefully.     At her exit, my colleague (I was at work)said "I like how you quickly cleared her. Make she no go carry you for mind". Then other guys started telling stories of th...

An Afterthought

Image
After grumbling and murmuring for a while, for God’s sake should I always be the one washing the dirty dishes we all used at home? Time and time again, I have always developed an idea and plan for my siblings to wash their plates after every meal. It seems the plan becomes something for the morrow. At every meal, my mind keeps focusing on the number of plates I would discuss with. “ A chat with the dishes ”. Has this not taken away the beauty and taste of the meal presented before me? Sincerely I’m tired of these chores. While I murmured and grumbled at the spills of oils and dirt all around the dishes, little did I know that I had begun to silence the echoes of love from the baby plate? She had always wanted to inform me about how I had focused on the wrong things like the discomfort I thought I felt.  She always wanted to tell me about how she’s evidence of God’s amazing provision and His mercies revealed while we ate as a family. She said all along she reminded me of...

Trusting God (2)

Image
This is an experience on how God comes through for us when we ask for things we think may not happen or what may look irrational or even what we think has to happen in a general or normal way.  ✔️ It was a Wednesday evening in school, days when exams were Knocking already, days when we had to read by all means. I'm sure you can relate perfectly. Myself and a friend (I will call her Aunty S), left the library for Bible study which was to hold outside the school environment. We were really tired that day and to think it was during a fasting period in church. We got to church that evening, listened to every bit of the Bible study, even though at a point, I was thinking of what to eat when I get back to the hostel that night. I wanted to eat something different instead of my normal rice, indomie or spaghetti (the major foods I eat in school). ✔️We finished Bible study, blessed as usual and we were set to  start our journey back to the hostel. On our way, we saw a Barbe...

Dear Distinguished __ What is Faith?

Image
Dear Distinguished, Faith is sitting for Unilag post utme with no back up plan for admission elsewhere.  She is not sobbing over missed GST/GNS tests because she knows she cannot score less than 50 in the exam.  And that's a pass. Yeah? Faith is giving away all her earnings, Knowing that the God whom she serves will provide all her needs according to His riches in glory.  She is sowing her seeds with expectations of a bountiful harvest despite the economic groanings.  Faith is hoping for the best spot available.  She is believing that on entrance to the main auditorium,  To her favor will be turned tables. Faith is running with high expectations Knowing that she is ever growing and  increasing. She is set on God's word, she's never turning to depression.  Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things...

Faith

Image
As Christians, once the topic of faith Is raised, everyone becomes a saint and we all act as though we actually have faith in God, but low-key most of us are using human reasoning/psychology. So I'd take us on a quick journey of what faith is and how it has worked for me as a person. ★ Faith is Total Believe We're all familiar with the scripture that defines faith as the "Substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"  Hebrews 11: 1    You see, most Christians are hoping for things to happen rather than faithing it, we're so used to the word faith that we even forget it's meaning and how we can apply it in our day to day activities. Faith is suspending all human reasoning and believing in the supernatural, Yes! Faith is Total believe. Yunno, our father Abraham ( Father of faith) had total faith in God that it was accounted to him as "Righteousness" and without faith, no man can please God.  ★Faith Can Be Used in every asp...

The land of unease

Image
"Our mental attitude makes even ordinary tasks difficult to perform when we approach them with a negative thought. Repeated failures or refusal to do what our contemporaries are able to accomplish often causes further breakdown in self-confidence and increases fear. A Christian need never be dominated by this negative habit."  Tim Ha Laye ... The quest had begun. Were they all just able-bodied men who only appeared to be mighty? In their words, they said, "we can't". The shreds of evidence of their fear showed their little or no faith in the love, power, and plan of their maker. For forty days they explored the land and in their returning they said: “ We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country—a land flowing with milk and honey. Here is the kind of fruit it produces." Wow! This must be wonderful! They had seen a few of God's amazing creatures. Who wouldn't desire something great for God's sake? A...

The Subject Of Faith

Image
The subject of faith is an indispensable talk in the Christendom. Everything about Christianity centers on faith. It starts from faith, it ends in faith. There really is no single thing you can do as a Christian without faith, because of course, the very basis of your salvation is faith. You heard a person preach salvation - how that God loved you so much that he sent his only son to die for you, how that Jesus took upon himself all the pains that came with the cross, just to give you a clean sheet before God.  Those words made sense to you because you believed in the possibility. Now, that's faith. It's why the Bible says in the tenth chapter and tenth verse of Romans that : For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  It is the reason we are called believers! Now, many believers, in the course of their walk with God, tend to get so familiar with the subject of faith, that they barely accord it much us...

We were Men

Image
We were men from a faraway land who had come in search of something or someone. We trailed the signs till this moment hoping to get to what had been long promised in the books and tales passed down from our forefathers of the one who would be like us in so many ways and yet not like us in so many ways. We set out at the sign of a star in the east, an unusually still bright star that glimmered amidst the dark cruel night sky of the east. This star was calm and still, yet it spoke volumes of a miracle happening somewhere. We set out guided by this star with a resolve to follow wherever it led us.  There was no need to converse among ourselves or discuss with the elders of our land because we already had a direction to follow. We expected that as we followed the star, it would lead us on and then we would keep on following. And it did just that, so there really was no need for further directions. A man that is set on a course does not need any directions from one who is not on ...

Trusting God

Image
There is this general notion, that before you can trust people with certain big things, you first trust them with little things and see what they do with such before putting bigger things in their care.  📍Some people find it hard to trust God on little decisions of their life because they feel they can follow every general way of doing things. Some will even say God doesn't give quick answers. Then, it comes to time for making big decisions, they then come to God to seek his approval, help, or something because they realize it's beyond what they can do on their own but somehow they didn't get answers thereby causing them to lose focus on God. We can say this is God's voice saying: " Did you trust me on that little decision that shouldn't have led you to this terrible state" or God saying: "You can't just run to me anytime you feel like".  📍According to Rev.3:16, God hates lukewarm Ness. You are either in or out, hot or cold. Eve...
