Manning your Friend zone

Every human being is living for a certain purpose and relationships are integral parts of the purpose.

Talking about relationships, as teenagers, friendships are primary. There is a saying that ‘if you want to walk fast, walk alone but if you want to walk far, walk with people’. The place of friendships can never be overemphasized on your way to fulfilling destiny.

As much as this is credible, unavoidable is the fact that ‘your choice of friends can make or mar you’. In essence, the choice the friends you make can leave a favourable or fatal effect in your life.

This is completely evident in your lifestyle as a teenager. If your bossom friend wants to go to the movies with you, because of the height of the intimacy, you run out of resistance if at all you want to offer one.

A friend with whom you move with virtually every time cannot be on his way to the shopping mall while you decide to stay back. No! it is not done.

But yes, there are a few concretely determined people who will be fine; though I
doubt if it would last for a long time.

The choice of friendship that David made in the bible made him, while the
choice of friendship Samson made, marred him.

The plain truth is, you naturally cannot control the caliber of persons that come your way, but you really can decide those you want on your lane.

Show me a successful man, I will show you a man who takes charge of his
table of friends.

Most of the suicide cases flying around on social media today could, in a way, be a product of a wrong choice of relationship on the part of the victim.

Peer pressure can engender a crazy influence on you as a young person. This is more reason why you should begin to take responsibility on who comes and stays in your life.

Five Ways to Man Your Friend Zone

1. Develop a Sense of Responsibility

Until you come to realize that you are the foreman in your own life, life will still keep tossing you around. Responsibility births conscious actions. When you develop a sense of responsibility, you no longer wait for your friends before you do things that are meant to be done. You no longer count on their approval for your actions and inactions.

2. Get a Standard:

Your choices are powerful forces, they either set your life in the right direction or the wrong. A thorough scrutiny of who becomes
your friend is very imperative. Anybody cannot just come and get a seat. There must be some features you look out for in your friends. Begin to use
them as determinants. What are your likes and dislikes in people?

I do not move with extroverts, I do not move with people who are not future conscious, I do not move with mediocrity-minded individuals. These are some of my standards and they have been a good guide in my selection of friends plus it spares you the unnecessary stress.

3. Declutter :

Decluttering goes a long way in helping you take control of your
friendships. You must be so sensitive that you can quickly take into cognizance who is worth keeping and who is worth exiting.

Your life is not a a trash bin so you don’t have to house every person that approaches you.

Do a regular check and balance, probably every month. Examine the friends you have made lately; who are those that have helped and still helping you get closer to the future you dream of? When you realize this, you will spot the weeds in the beautiful plant and trim them off clearly.

Man your friend zone, so it does not man you. A great man is a man who is in control of what happens and does not in his life. It is never worth the stress.
