Green Lights

GREEN LIGHTS.
A believer I am,
Transformed to be who He is,
For the truth of who I am
Is only revealed in who He is.
I never knew who I was
Or who I was meant to be
My god was my belly and thoughts,
My desire was to fulfil my lusts.

But that was before He found me,
Before He called me to be who He is.
Light is the totality of who He is,
And darkness will not be found in Him.
Darkness should not be found in me,
For Truth says I am who He is,
But darkness seems to have overcome me,
In a sharp contrast with the light in Him.

Here I am missing my cues,
Here I am falling out of line.
My heart does not seem inclined,
To His Word which is the truth.
I understand He has found me,
Why do I keep losing myself?
I know He has called me by His Name,
Why do I keep running out of His way?

It seems my past will not let me go,
It seems my lusts won't leave me alone.
I struggle to put them away,
But the more I try is the more I fail.
Help me Lord to trust in You,
For my abilities have failed me.
Help me Lord to focus on Your truth,
For my lies have defeated me.

Lead me on in your path of truth,
For Your Word alone is the Truth.
Help me to focus alone on Your cross,
To grip firmly to Your finished works.
Help me to see your bigger picture,
Your strength made alive in my weaknesses.
Like the traffic lights focus on the road,
Let the green lights of my heart follow you alone.
