Satisfied
Dear Teenager,
It’s funny how that the more we are exposed to the very things of life that we desire and always long for, the more unfulfilled we find ourselves. The things we wish for ourselves to find and become worthy of become just another thing that we pile up on the list of our ‘came, saw and conquered’ list and we go on to desire more.
We tell ourselves, “just one more, one more minute with that person, one day at the mall, some rendezvous with a celebrity, a new phone, a new car,” and the list is endless. That is just what the list is, endless. It goes on and on as we achieve the immediate things in front of us. No matter how much we plan our year and arrange what we desire to achieve, something will always come in place and we find out that it is never enough.
Phones, urban trends, food, class and taste are all items that keep on piling and no man can ever really admit that he is fulfilled and sure of whether he is done with all that he desires to achieve in his lifetime. The fact that our apps and phone creators always present us with new upgrades and updates just show us the reality of life that is unending.
Well, one thing satisfies. And it’s not the want of a thing that lasts here on earth alone, because all that we desire, no matter how long they last, can’t outlive this world. And we know that. Even the atheist, who denies the existence of God, cannot deny what he doesn’t know right? Now, before you pounce on me for that argument, I know it’s not too solid okay?
Am I in anyway saying that it is a bad thing to want more and an upgrade? No, not at all. What I am saying is that those upgrades, as wonderful as they may be will only satisfy you for the moment. A few days after (its earlier for some of us though), you’re wanting more. You know this is true, don’t you? Life is very full of uncertainties and we can’t be sure of the next moment and if what we have can get us through the next day. That is why we keep on going for more.
But there is One that satisfies. He offers peace and perfect hope for the future. The next minute, next day, next ten years and all that is ever ahead of you in this lifetime. What’s more? He offers an awesome assurance for the life hereafter also. An awesome package all in one, isn’t it? His name is Jesus. He offers peace for the storm and calm for the winds. And its super easy to be a part of this, just to accept and believe what he has done in place of you, and you’re saved. From uncertainty.
Now, the next moment isn’t always clear even so. But that should not be your problem, should it? You’ve handed it over to him and he carries you through. So just maintain great clam in the midst of it all. You’ll be fine. Really, you will be fine. You’ll see.
