The Soldier's Armour

Darkness broods still in the land
Lights extinguishing day and night
Yet a soldier in the land must thrive
And fulfill His Master's command
Or else, I have lived in vain

Armed with his armour
I can do all things
Armed with his armour
I can do all things

Held firmly by the truth
That He is God
That He loves the world
That he gave himself for her
That He is powerful
And that he saves
No storm will bend me over

His righteousness strong on our hearts
When the accuser brings his thoughts
To make us worthless
And render us dirty and vile
We'll recall that you will not impute sin
And hold on to your righteousness
Standing out in the dark world

Our feet ready to go
Climbing heights for you
Running and walking for the gospel
Spreading peace and reconciliation

The accuser may see us thriving
Shooting doubts, worries and fears
To make us question ourselves
We can't stop him from shooting
Just as we can't stop birds from flying
But they won't build a nest on our heads
Neither will he on our hearts

So the shield of faith quenches all darts
We weren't redeemed by mere blood
But that of God's own Son
And this is the victory that overcomes
The world, the devil, even our faith!

Charging into situations with his Word
Our thoughts guarded by his salvation
What he says I can do, I can
Who he says I am, I am
Our identity found in His word

Praying always
For me and fellow soldiers
For boldness to forge on
For courage to keep shining
For fire to keep burning
For bearing each other in arms

And we shall win
Because our Lord has done the same
So that day, at my Master's call
I shall answer gladly
Show Him my treasures
And he'll say 'Well-done'.

Amen.
