Daniel's diary - Episode 01

Image
Daniel was about 17 years old when king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon conquered Judah, and exiled the citizens to Babylon, as captives. At the time, the king ordered the selection of young men who would study in Babylon's academy for three years, and after graduation, become counsellors in the palace.  They would be studying the Chaldean language, and literature. Daniel and his friends - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, were four of the young men chosen from Judah.  They had all that the King wanted in good students - good looks, studiousness, intelligence, strength, health, alertness, sensibility, and regal poise. The king assigned them the best food and wine from his very own kitchen.  He wanted them to look as royal as possible, upon graduation. But Daniel, being a decisive and determined young man, made up his mind not to eat and drink whatever the king sent. He instead asked the supervisors for permission to eat other things.  It turned out that the super...

Dear Distinguished -- Remember your first love! 10

Dear Distinguished,    How e dey go? Or better still, how do you do? I am as good as gold, thanks for asking. To be honest, I have no idea how to construct this letter but we trust the Holy Spirit for help; abi?  Let's take a much needed flashback to the day you became born again. The  day you lifted up your heart to the heavens singing "no turning back, no turning back". Did you feel like the Lord should return that moment? Did you feel like screaming the good news at every bus stop before your house? Did you sit down in His presence, reveling in His love? You did ehn? So what happened to the joy of your salvation?  I am speaking to you my dear; in the same vein, I am speaking to myself. What happened to us? When did we become so concerned about the cares of tomorrow? Why do we still struggle with the burdens we've casted on Jesus? What happened to the hunger and thirst that plagued our infant years? Why did we start feeling wise in our own sight? When di...

"Time waits for nobody"

Image
Is this actually true? The clock keeps ticking 🤔 and everything keeps happening all around us. Boom! O ti blow. Ahannnn coming to think about it, with the look of things, time actually waits for nobody o. In fact I can't wait anymore.  Cool down! Even if time won't wait for you, should you be faster than time or run ahead of Abba. Many times you sing that song "I put you in front, in front of my melodies you are all that matters". The last time God checked omo, oti gbera tipe.  You started with an head booster. Were you not the one fed up with the process of waiting and rolled out of God's plan. You announced yourself and gave no room for instructions. Come on! It's high time you ran back to the father and forget that which you have gathered. The clock of repentance is ticking. Dakun Daddy's home and his waiting for you to return to your planned path.  If  you consider this time everyone speaks of, and all. Did you ever consider the one who ma...

It’s so annoying and painful! Why should he have done that to me ? Oh! She stepped on my toes and even ridiculed me in public. Oh! Mine is beyond what I can tell. It has eaten deep into me. You see, you can’t relate. Time and time again offences will surely come. With what wisdom will you be able to handle them?  We all have been offended in different ways and sometimes it drills a hole in our heart. The palms of our heart has held so many loads making us slaves to burdens. Most times we choose to mess up every new and wonderful day with the pains of yesterday.  Dear teenager it may be true no one can relate how painful the deed was. To be sincere with you. It is easily said than done when one tell you to forgive. It is true that sometimes others can’t relate to certain pains we have felt from disappointments, heartbreaks and betrayals . Sometimes it happens beyond our imaginations. On our own we can't handle it.  Hebrews  4:15  For we have not an hi...

Dear Distinguished,

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Don't you see it? You have been called out. You're not to conform to the status quo. You've been chosen even amongst the called. You have an unction of grace. You're not to be moved.  You see and know all these is true concerning you yeah? Why then do you strive to be at par with your mates? Why do you want to own bragging rights? Why do you seek the approval of men? Why do you even do what you have been doing since the beginning of the lock down? I'll tell you a story.  I know a girl who has done very little in the past 4 months when compared to you. You know you have been reading the bible from cover to cover, praying 1 hour for every 2 hours you're awake, reading ahead of your course outline, learning a trade, you've taken online courses and even got...

Your time, your life.

Image
We grew up to hear mum always tell us words like  “your time is your life”, ”Don’t waste time”, “Hurry up”  because as a 9-year-old then, I believed I was too young to master the art of good time management. I was a kid, so I deserved to live life carefreely. Thanks to my mum who never got weary of shaping and reshaping my life to the best form I have become and still becoming. Naturally, I was smart and brilliant but I was so missing out on time that things that shouldn’t take me an hour to complete could end up taking me donkey hours to complete. After school, once I and my brother gets home, the first thing we would do is eat and after that, play and after the play, we play again. Then in the early hours of the morning, we rush our school homework so we don’t get punished at school. That was what our routine looked like as kids until mum, one day, suddenly took it on us. She mandated us that after school, our homework comes first, then lunch, then we get back to...

Satisfied

Dear Teenager,  It’s funny how that the more we are exposed to the very things of life that we desire and always long for, the more unfulfilled we find ourselves. The things we wish for ourselves to find and become worthy of become just another thing that we pile up on the list of our ‘came, saw and conquered’ list and we go on to desire more. We tell ourselves, “just one more, one more minute with that person, one day at the mall, some rendezvous with a celebrity, a new phone, a new car,” and the list is endless. That is just what the list is, endless. It goes on and on as we achieve the immediate things in front of us. No matter how much we plan our year and arrange what we desire to achieve, something will always come in place and we find out that it is never enough. Phones, urban trends, food, class and taste are all items that keep on piling and no man can ever really admit that he is fulfilled and sure of whether he is done with all that he desires to achieve in his lifetime....
